Hello fellow sewistas!
Great listing of felt tutorials! Thanks from a member at Sewing Mamas katiesduds! I'm no longer the owner of Sewing Mamas, but it has my heart and I get inspiration daily!
In other news, I got a new sewing machine that actually works and is new. My BabyLock started giving me the Error message (thanks motherboard) I forwent all the bells and whistles and got a Janome 19106-11642. It's refurbished but I LOVE it!! I cristened it by making my oldest an apron she can use in her dorm apartment kitchen. She's always loved mine but it's old and has stains. So I copied the pattern and sent it off. Sorry, forgot a picture. Maybe she'll send me one ;)
I don't buy much on eBay anymore and don't sell there at all, but this was a good deal. It runs so smooth and is just what I wanted. I tried to get all fancy dance but you know -- it just wasn't me or what I needed. So there you go. I now have three machines. This Janome, my Janome coverstitch and my New Home serger (which is also made by Janome). I'm very happy with all of them.
My oldest daughter is dressing up as a fairy for her dorm Halloween party, which is cute because the first 9 years of her life she was some sort of priness/ fairy every Halloween. My middle daughter has gone from princess last year to vampire this year. My youngest is 6 and thought she wanted to be a cheerleader but is now waffling so I may have the machines running this week.
Oh I have also found a lot of inspiration from Chasing Fireflies. Besides all the insanely beautiful clothing, they have some great 'gift' items. Here are a few of my favorites that can inspire you too!
I'm in love with these fairy houses. I need to look at them some more to figure out how to make them. My girls already have a 'fairy garden' in the back yard, and these would be a great indoor version! The handprint collection has always been something I've wanted to do too. And please, how cool are these updated fashion plates? Sigh. I really need to get back to my machines.
Happy Halloween, October, Dia de las Muertas, Autumn Equinox etc. I never deny anyone to get festive! I need to go check out what Kathy is doing this season now that I think about it. I can't wrap my head around decorating skulls yet, but I'm open to it. I certainly appreciate it, it makes life interesting. Hey, they make sugar skulls so that's good enough common ground! Maybe I'll come back with some ideas for 'other' fall holidays.
All my kids are in school and I'm taking a leave of absence but somehow my life has gotten even busier. Like kitchen cabinets, they tend to get filled up as soon as they get cleared up. But I love you all and always appreciate your kind thoughts, words and posts!
