Last night I was
such a good mama, making Giada's Italian Roast, with puccini mushrooms
and gravy.
Everything went fine until I put the stuff in the blender to make the gravy. The top wasn't on securely, and I didn't put a towel over the top. The steam exploded when I turned it on.
It flew all over my face, onto my scalp and right arm. I didn't make a sound but whipped my shirt off and stuck my head under the faucet. UGH. I look like I have a sunburn. Thank GOD I was lazy and was wearing my glasses or I'm pretty sure I'd have lost my already bad sight.
So here's the moral. When blending hot stuff, put a towel over the lid to make sure nothing splatters. DH was kind enough to tell me as I was soaking ice.
The roast however was awesome, and the gravy divine. Here's the recipe. It was DELICIOUS! I'm getting Mr. Big her new book for Christmas:
I look like I have a weird sunburn LOL. Not too bad. My scalp and my
forehead are the worst and my hair covers those up. I've been using
Solarcaine and aloe, along with some soothing conditioner when I
finally got to take a shower.
Earlier in the day, Emily's boyfriend was over to watch Elf with us, and I dropped a Corelle bowl (with hot refried beans and cheese) in about a million places on the tile. Not feeling so swift in the kitchen today yesterday.
I'm made cinnamon rolls from scratch today so here's hoping I can do that without losing any appendages or more skin. They came out great, no damages except to my waistline as per usual
Or Pride.
My tip of the day -- free and worth every penny :)
