So many of us have been 'downsized' or are in a fluid teaching position. Money is tight all around. A few readers reminded me of these great discounts. Don't ever forget to ask if a store has a teacher discount. You'd be surprised how many do!
Jo Ann's Teacher Appreciation Days are August 14 and 15. You get 20% off your total purchase and a free reusable tote bag. You need your current teacher identification (I'm sure a pay-stub would work), and your state photo ID (i.e. Driver's License). What I really like is that you can be a public, private or home schooling teacher. Other places are more strict but Jo Ann beats them all for teachers! You can find great deals on summer camp craft sets for your classroom right now.
When you sign up with Jo Ann, you always get 15% off of your total purchases, even on sale items! You really can't beat that.
You don't have to be a teacher to get a 'Groupon' discount. I have gotten amazing discounts to local attractions and use it when traveling as well. Well worth it, especially for teachers!
According to their website,
Groupon started in November 2008 as part of The Point, a platform for collective action. We started Groupon to make it easier for people to enjoy the great things in their community. We do it by offering daily deals at unbeatable prices through the power of group buying.
We also use Groupon's consumer collective to lift each community we touch, by featuring local charities and organizing support for community causes.
We treat our customers the way that we like to be treated, and do everything we can to offer a "too good to be true" experience from the moment you buy your Groupon to the day you use it.
Have a great summer, whether you're teaching or hanging out at the pool -- or both!

That is amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing! I've missed your updates. The school environment has been so stressful, I appreciate your wit and lightheartedness up here in Maine. Keep up the great work.
